Inktense!!!

All my new goodies I ordered last week arrived yesterday so I just had to spend some more time in my craft room tonight.  I got a bunch of new Kraftin' Kimmie stamps, some of the new memento ink colors and a new pentel watercolor brush.  So I decided to put away the copic markers for tonight and play with my inktense watercolor pencils.  I have been wanting to try a project with them for awhile now.  First of all I love my new watercolor brush, it has such a fine tip on it and I can get some great detail with it. I decided to use the Peony Kraftin' Kimmie stamp I got in my last order for this card.  The challenge this week is a white on white card except for the main image.  I wanted to do a really bright image and I thought the Peony stamp would work really well for that.

I also got the chance to use my new Spellbinders M-bossabilities folder "splendid" for this card.  I made a white card base then cut a white layer to emboss.  Then I cut out a white scalloped oval and plain oval with spellbinders petite scalloped and petite ovals large.  I edged everything with a pixie dust chalk ink just to give them a little bit of definition.  I stamped Peony with ranger black archival ink and then colored her with the watercolor pencils.  I then went over the image with the aqua brush to blend all the colors together well.  I also colored over the bow in her hair with a sakura clear stardust pen.

Inktense colors - fuchsia & chilli red for dress
                        - mustard, willow & baked earth for hair
regular watercolors - rose pink & flesh pink for face and body
                              - turquoise green for eyes

I cut the image out and glued her to the middle of the oval and then attach to card with 3d foam dots.  I then added really tiny white pearls to the centers of all the embossed flowers visible.

Well now I have to wait a whole week for the next challenge LOL!  I guess I'll have to go find some other challenges to do later this week.  I am happy I did manage to get my three posts up for this week, that makes up for only one last week.

Have a very Happy Canada Day everyone!!!! I hope the weather is better tomorrow so everyone can get out and enjoy the festivities.  I'll be back in a couple of days with another post. Thanks for stopping by my blog and until next time happy crafting everyone!!!

It Must Be Music!!!

I did get a chance to get in my craft room this evening and decided to do another challenge for some inspiration.  Though it is technically Saturday, I'm still counting this as a post for Friday.  I actually started the post before midnight, I just didn't get it finished until after LOL!!!

So this weeks challenge over at Kenny K's Krafty Girls blog is "it must be music",  a song inspired project.  That was a tough one with the stamps I have and my serious case of crafter's block. I have a few digi stamps from Kenny K and I have some nice rubber ones as well.  I decided to use the Racy Roxie digi stamp, she reminds me of the song "Born to be Wild".  After all the first two lines are "get your motor runnin', get out on the highway" how appropriate for Racy Roxie!!!!

I colored her with copic markers (E0000, 000, 00, 01, 21, 25, 27 - R22, 24, 27 - YR02 - N1, 3, 5 & 7).  I also used memento bahama blue and lady bug markers (for her eyes and lips) and a sakura clear stardust pen on her sun glasses.  I stamped some random music notes around the image with a stamp from inkadinkado and tattered rose distress ink.  I edged the papers with red brick and black versa magic ink and added a few pearls as accents.  The patterned paper which has music notes all over it is and old paper from creative imaginations by Marah Johnson.

I'll be back, well I guess technically much later today with another post and project.  Maybe something for Canada Day, Eh? I'm can't wait to go to the fireworks and parties on Sunday.  Have a great weekend everyone!!!

Summer Fun!!!

Well Summer is officially here but the weather isn't exactly co-operating. It has been rainy and cloudy here for most of the week.  I haven't had a much time to spend in my craft room this week.  You know, I say that every week lately!  I don't seem to have much spare time at all recently.  I really need to schedule my time a little better it seems.  Oh well, I did manage to get my craft room all cleaned up and organized so that I can actually function in there.  I have been working on cards for my husbands store, but they are all repeats of designs I've posted before.  Coming up with new designs seems to be a real challenge for me right now.  I think I have a case of crafter's block. So I decided to head over to the Kraftin' Kimmie challenge blog and see what kind of inspiration I could find.  I also received my stamps from the Kraftin' Kimmie challenge I won a few weeks ago and I really wanted to use them. The stamps are from the "Lulu on the move" set.

This week the challenge is Summer Fun - it didn't have to be a summer image but use bright summer colors.  I thinks the colors from these papers by Three Bugs In a Rug papers are nice and bright for summer.  I actually picked the papers first and then picked copics to match it (YR00, 12, 14, 24 - Y00, 02, 04 - E00, 01, 02 - R81, 83, 85 - N1, N5 & YG25).  I also used some diamond stickles on her hair ribbon and skates.  I edged the picture and patterned papers with pink grapefruit versa magic chalk ink.  I used a corner rounder punch on the corners of the picture and the mat.  I stamped the greeting with ranger archival ink and added a few brads for some fun embellishments.  I used 3d foam dots to attach the main image.
That's it for tonight, I will be back with another post tomorrow.  I have to post 2 more projects this week to make up for only one last week.  Have a great Friday everyone and thanks for stopping by.

A Little Late....

...with this post, no surprise there LOL !!!! Here is another one of the Father's Day cards I made last week.  I just haven't had time to post it.  This has been another crazy & hectic week.  I walked in my studio last night and realized you can't actually see my desk under all the chaos.  So I really need to get in there and clean up before I am able to make anything else.  So I might only have time for one post this week.  If so, I will make up for it next week with 3 posts.

Anyhow here are the details for this card.  The image stamp is from the stampin' up set "backwoods" (rich cocoa memento ink)and the greeting is from "a guiding light" stamp set by flourishes (walnut stain distress ink).  I cut out image and several mats using spellbinders large and small labels.  I colored the image with derwent watercolor pencils and inktense pencils (inktense colors - willow and apple green the reg wc pencils are olive green, sepia, flesh pink & turquoise green).  I didn't blend them out with water I wanted a very soft muted look.  The patterned paper is from the Simple Stories Generations 6x6 paper pad.  I'm not sure where the ribbon is from, I bought a couple yards online and I can't remember where.  I edged everything with jumbo java versa magic ink and added a few chocolate brown brads for a little more detail.  I also used 3d foam dots to adhere the image portion to the card.
I really hope I have a chance for a post tomorrow but if not, I will have 3 next week.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.

Another Father's Day Card!!

I was having a really hard time getting my Father's Day cards this year.  I had lots of ideas for cards but never had the time to sit down and try most of them.  I did manage to get a couple more made last night (although I'm not too sure if I'm entirely happy with them).  Oh well they got done, that's the main thing LOL.
For this card I had stamped it and started coloring it a while back and lost my list of the colors I used on it.  Most of it was painted using an aqua brush and distress inks (I know I used vintage photo, walnut stain, peeled paint, broken china & chipped sapphire - not sure what else was used though).  The main image stamp is called Lighthouse from Stamps Happen Inc, the greeting is from "a guiding light" stamp set by Flourishes and the seagull and crab stamps are from the seaside stamp set by crafty secrets.  The patterned paper is an old piece that did not have a name on it.  The images I stamped on the patterned paper and the greeting were stamped with chipped sapphire distress ink.  I wanted a little more detail so I added some pewter brads.

I guess that's it for tonight, I do have at least 1 more Father's Day card to post tomorrow (maybe 2 - if I get time to make another tonight or tomorrow).  Have a great night everyone and Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there.

Man of the House

It has been a long, crazy, busy week and I really haven't had a lot of time to spend crafting, so I decided to use the cricut mini to make some Father's Day cards.  They even had a few cards that were free to use this week.  This "man of the house" cuts out as a full card but I decided to cut the front panel off and use it as a card front.  I cut out about 4 of these cards using a dark brown and kraft card stock
I used a piece of card stock the same color as the mat color to put behind the brown cut out panel.  I embossed that piece using the Tim Holtz woodgrain folder and then sponged some vintage photo and walnut stain distress ink on the raised parts.  I used a couple of copper brads to add a little detail to the card front and then decided it would need a little more detail.   Since I had cut out a few of these cards I decided to use the tools that were left over to add the extra details.  I took the saw that I cut out of the kraft card stock and colored the blade with copic W8 and then cut the handle off of the one I cut out in brown and glued them together.  I then rubbed some metallic silver pigment ink over the blade part to make it look like an old worn saw and I used a little bit of copper ink on the handle.  I then decided to do the same thing with the hammer and added them to the card front with glue dots.

I think you could definitely use this card for a few different occasions but this one will be for a Father's Day card.  I may have to cut out a few more of these to use later.  I think I might have to go look for some tool dies as well, these ones were so fun to make.

While I have the time, I am going to sneak back in my craft room for a few more hours tonight.  I will be back tomorrow night with another post.  Have a great weekend everyone!!!

A Father's Day Card...

I finally got started on my Father's Day cards.  Of course they'll never get there on time...perhaps I'll have to email them a picture of the cards so they can at least see them on Father's Day!!! (LOL).  Oh well, it's the thought that counts, right???  I will get my other cards finished tomorrow and mail them on Monday but, I really don't think they'll make it across the country in time.  Why do these holidays always seem to sneak up on you from out of nowhere?  Well here is my first card and it is for my Step Dad (actually I also need to make him a birthday card too!  Oh and a birthday card for my nephew as well - June is kind of a crazy month).  OK, I have got to get busy.
For this card I made my own patterned paper using the stamps from "the open sea" stamp set by Stampin' Up. I inked the paper with vintage photo distress ink and then stamped the images with vintage photo and the anchor with walnut stain distress ink.  The greeting (jet black archival ink by Ranger) and ship (black memento ink) are from the "guiding light" stamp set by Flourishes.  I colored the image with copics (E50, 53, 55, 57 - B93, 95, 97) and cut it out with a spellbinders small labels die.  I covered the image with a mask and sponged the sky in with tumbled glass and spun sugar distress ink.  I added some cream soda bakers twine by sew easy and copper brads for a little more detail.  I also did some distressing to the edges of some of the papers.

Well it is getting late and apparently I have a ton of cards to get done tomorrow LOL!!! Have a great Sunday everyone!!! Thanks for visiting my blog and happy crafting!

Got Cake?

I really wish I had some right now LOL.  This is the card I made on Sunday for my Father-in-law's birthday, he has a great sense of humor and loves cake.  We had  a great birthday dinner on Sunday with lots of cake!!!!  I was going to post this a few days ago but, I haven't had time until now.  I may be back with another post tonight but if not I will definitely have one for tomorrow.
For this card I pulled out an old set of stamps from inkadinkado called humorous birthday.  The happy happy birthday greeting is from the Amy R "It's your birthday" set by CC Designs (love this stamp set!!!).  I stamped the image with black memento ink and stamped the greeting with walnut stain distress ink.  I colored the image with copics (E21, E25, E27, B01 & R17) and I used a little bit of diamond stickles on the cupcake as well.  I edged all the papers with jumbo java versa magic chalk ink and added a few gold brads for a little more detail. The patterned paper if from the fancy pants "It's Your Day" collection.

That's it for now but I hope to have another post before the day is out.  I have to go check out some of the challenges on my favorite sites.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

So Sweet!

I just love this new stamp I ordered a couple of weeks ago.  It is called Uptown Girl Claudia has a Candy from Stamping Bella.  I'm trying to ink up and use all my new stamps.  I was going to color her dress but I picked out the patterned paper first (shocking right!!!) I usually color first and then try to match the paper LOL.  Anyhow, I picked the paper first and then decided it was so cute I would paper piece the dress.

The paper is from the Crate Paper Blue Hill collection and this particular design is called rain. I cut one edge with an EK success scalloped border punch to kind of match the edge of her dress.  The paper is a double sided paper so I cut another piece and edged it with versa magic pixie dust chalk ink and layered it underneath to make the edge show up more. I edged the white paper with key lime versa magic ink.  I colored the rest of the image with copic markers (E0000, 00, 01, 25, 33, 35, 37 - R00, 02 - YG21, 23 - W1, 2).  I colored over parts of her dress with the W1 & 2 so it would blend in better.  The greeting stamp is from the Amy R It's Your Birthday set by CC Designs.  I stamped it with Ranger black archival ink and added some diamond stickles to the birthday, lollipop and hair bows.  It looks a little funny in the picture because I took the picture before it was dry.  I used 3d foam dots to attach the greeting and then used some champagne rhinestones from Kaiser craft for a little more bling!!!

I hope to be back in a couple of days with another project, I have to make a birthday card for a party tomorrow night so maybe I'll get a chance to post it by Monday.  Thanks for stopping by and have a great Sunday everyone.

Can You Believe It....

...I won another challenge.  When I checked in to the Altered Alice site on Sunday I found out I won that challenge!!!!  I'm so happy and I can't wait to get my new stamp set.  I will make a project with the stamps and post it a.s.a.p.  Just a quick post tonight, it has been a long busy week and I haven't had much time to spend in my studio.  I will have another project to post tomorrow night though.

For this card I used the Batman: The Brave and the Bold cricut cartridge.  I cut the face part out of white card stock and then colored it with copic markers.  This is a quick and simple card (once you have the face cut & glue together.  I used the Tim Holtz brick wall embossing folder to create the background and then inked it with versa magic black chalk ink.  I used 3d pop dots to adhere batman to the card.  I stamped the greeting (kaiser craft) with ranger black archival ink.  I also decided to add a few pewter brads for a little extra detail.  I think this would be a good card for a little guy or a Batman fan!
Thanks for visiting my blog and I'll be back tomorrow night with another post.  Have a great weekend everyone!
